Dr. Richard Hughes served Hamburg, New York’s Frontier Central School District as superintendent between 2018 and 2020, a position that entailed management of 900 staff members and approximately 5,000 students throughout Southern Erie County. He played a key role in the creation of the district’s first 10-year plan, which passed with a budget of $70 million, and also successfully led a $24.4 million, three-phase capital project, among other notable achievements. Dr. Richard Hughes had previously gained experience as a superintendent with the Central Valley Central School District and the Otselic Valley Central School District. Between 2005 and 2010, he served the Delhi Central School District as athletic director and principal.
Dr. Hughes is a member of several professional organizations, including the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education and the National Superintendents Roundtable. He holds a number of degrees, including a doctor of education from Northcentral University. In his free time, he enjoys practicing martial arts, having achieved his second black belt in 2021, providing training to educators, and speaking on critical topics facing educators and the communities they serve.
