Stock Investing Using Market-share Estimation Based on Aggregate Data

  • Collected, cleansed data from Taiwan Economic Journal database (TEJ database) and Market Observation Post System
  • Constructed a random coefficient logit model (BLP model) using aggregate data for utility estimation 
  • Implemented Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm for Bayesian inference and Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) in R and C++ 
  • Built a trading signal generator by using change of utility combined with the stop-loss mechanism in the trading backtest and obtained return on investment was 60.6% during 2017Q1 to 2019Q1 

Predicted Taiwan stock market by analyzing financial news articles

  • Extracted features from words by applying n-gram and tf-idf method in python 
  • Conducted experiment of the input data by comparing k nearest neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random forests (RM) algorithm 
  • Predicted the daily up and down changes of the selected stocks, which achieve high accuracy by 85%-90% 

Analytic of pharmacy sales information using regression model

  • Coordinated with company for data cleaning and variables selection to ensure that data is meaningful and analyzable 
  • Developed data visualization and conducted exploratory data analysis (EDA) to analyze data sets for teasing out insights
