Job Description

The Program Manager provides leadership to program activities in a region or function, The position is responsible for setting direction, strategy and plan for the campaign(s) and communications. As line manager of the campaign and/or communications staff, the Program Manager is responsible for performance management, staff development and assigning staff to project teams.
The Program Manager may be assigned to lead projects, and/or to chair relevant communities as assigned by the Program Steer Committee. 

Scope
The post holder works under the general direction of the Deputy Program Director or Program Director, and assume responsibility for the assigned program area. The post holder demonstrates considerable independence and initiative with respect to decision-making, and provides leadership for planning, development of campaign strategy, overall program and organizational communications strategies.
Decisions made by the post holder significantly impact the overall success of Greenpeace East Asia program.
The post holder manages a team of campaign and/or communications staff. Discretion is exercised in handling confidential and sensitive information.
The post holder prepares, monitors and controls expenses and budget.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to achieve campaign objectives with at least 5 years of experience in related fields;
• Demonstrated management skills with at least 3 years of experience;
• Strong strategic and analytical abilities;
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and project members to deliver objectives on time;
• Demonstrated budget management skills;
• Fluency in written and spoken English and the local language of the region where the position is based;
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
• Commitment to, and demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team;
• Ability to work unsupervised, in a rapidly changing environment;
• Ability to operate and lead under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging situations;
• Ability to function effectively under public scrutiny;
• Commitment to the mission, principles and values of Greenpeace;
• Bachelor’s Degree or above;
• Computer literacy.
