Research Fellow
I was born in Taichung country and obtained my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in June 2011. Before entering NTU, I got my bachelor's degree in Chemistry at National Tsing Hua University and then spent two years as a research assistant at Dept. of Power Mechanical Engineering. During my PhD years, I joined the Program for Promoting Academic Excellence of Universities - Content Science for a Media-Rich Life and many NSC programs as a part-time assistant. In this program, my role is a coordinator and have learned how to manage and integrate an enormous project. For my research, my interests focus on Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Graph Theory, and Wireless Sensor Networks. The title of my dissertation is Robust Center Problems on General Graphs. Actually, this problem is the generalization of the classical p-center problem - image that there are 100 clients located in a city, and you would like to set up a 7-11. Once a new store is built, it will be 100 client-store distances. The goal of the problem is to find the best location of 7-11 such that the longest client-store distance is minimum. Under this basic model, my thesis considers the mobility of clients and other practical issues. I had been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center, an agency cofounded by NSC, Intel, and NTU with the mission to innovate cutting-edge machine-to-machine technology. The problem I am studying is YouBike transport problem-for a commuter, he or she would like to catch or return a bike as soon as possible, however, for the manager of the YouBike system, not only the utilization, but also the fuel consumption of the trucks used to carry YouBikes is critical to sustainable management. I formulate this problem as an online problem in a graph model to find a win-win strategy and the corresponding results have been published in IEEE conferences. After that, I was a Data Scientist in 104 Corp from April 2014 to March 2016. My focus is the design and implementation of Recommendation. Currently, there are four systems in 104: for entrepreneurs, we can recommend suitable candidates and, for applicants, we can recommend them suitable jobs. All codes are java-based and customized for 104. I had been chief data scientist in Coretronic from October 2017 to August 2019. Besides the Recommendation System similar to what I did in 104, I also pay attention to machine learning and modelling. Use such skills to analyze the benefits of advertisement and predict the number of audiences. Recently, I also study Federated Learning, especially in Differently Privacy, I have some cowork with my friend at NYCU. I start to engage in the field of Medical Image Processing and Analysis, and most of our data are from Taipei Veterans General Hospital. We would like to build a platform for image classification and auto marking for medical images as an assistant and reference for doctors. After joining Taiwan Power Research Institute as an information specialist, my research focuses on the Predictive Maintenance of electrical devices. For example, I have proposed a proejct whose goal is to predict the strength and location of lightning for Science Parks in the summer seasons based on AI techniques. For my hobbies, classical music, English, swimming and delicacies are four major elements of my life. I also spend lots of time flying light aircraft, such as Savannah S. In the future, I would like to find a suitable job that can fit my advantages and career planning. I may not be the one with brilliant flair, but I am rugged and persistent to achieve my goal step by step. Like Confucius said: Who likes is better than one knows, who enjoys is better than who likes. (知之者不如好之者,好之者不如樂之者。), I hope to find a job that can enrich my life.
