Deborah Surgi began her career in athletics and education at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, an all-girls' PK-12 independent school, where she coached varsity volleyball and taught health. Deb was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2015, and then into the New Orleans Prep Hall of Fame in 2013, alongside her 1991 State Championship Team.
