Dora Sauceda attended local public schools in the Brownsville area as a youngster growing up in Texas. As a young adult, she decided to seek a degree at University of Texas-Pan American Brownsville, a prestigious public college within the statewide UT system.

Dora Sauceda served as principal of Cummings Middle School, where she provided training and teaching to assist the struggling school in overcoming a lengthy academic and professional decline. As superintendent of Brownsville, she spends her time working with principals and delivering leadership training to teachers and administrators in her district.
