1. Assist residents with daily needs such as medication, baby care items, personal care items, and food from locked areas of the kitchen.
2. Make sure that rooms are cleaned, stocked with clean towels and toiletries, and otherwise ready for new residents.
3. Clean bedrooms and other parts of the shelter when necessary.
4. Orient new residents by reviewing shelter rules, chores, giving a tour of the shelter,
and ensuring they have basic personal care items and any other necessities.
5. Maintain a clean, welcoming, warm, residential environment.
6. Conduct weekly House meetings with the residents
7. Utilize skills to facilitate communication among residents and to promote constructive
mechanisms for coping with communal shelter life.
8. Prepare and monitor the chore chart. Ensure chores are assigned and completed and
issue warnings when necessary.
9. Conduct regular room checks
10. Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and sanitary and that it is maintained in
accordance with relevant health and safety standards.
11. Working with the MSW Coordinator, purchase/pick up food and supplies
remaining within budgetary guidelines.
12. Ensure that food and supplies are put away in a timely, orderly manner.
13. Assist residents in the planning of meals.
14. Provide support and supervision to volunteers working on projects in and around the
shelter.
15. Coordinate with the Operations Coordinator when repairs are needed or equipment
needs to be replaced.
16. Retrieve and return calls from the donation line.
17. Sort, put away, and distribute donations.
18. Prepare food baskets and housewarming baskets for residents who are leaving
shelter.
19. Provide shelter and help line coverage and assistance to residents as assigned by the
Program Manager.
20. Be a part of, and abide by the limitations of the Shelter on call schedule.
21. Other duties as assigned.
