A former military physician, Dr. Peter Dong-Yul Rhee provided medical services in the US Army and New York State National Guard from 2014 to 2016. Achieving the rank of captain, Dr. Peter Rhee served as a Battalion Field Surgeon and Internist for the HHC 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, overseeing the treatment of all combat injuries and diseases for 1,000 soldiers. Additionally, he served as a medical operations planner and medical expert, reporting directly to the battalion commander.
During his time in the New York State National Guard, Dr. Peter Dong-Yul Rhee trained and supervised Battalion Medics and Physician Assistants. In addition, he lectured on medical topics to the medical personnel under his command for continuing medical education purposes. He also supervised a battalion aid station, coordinated and implemented mass casualty planning, medical evacuation, and transfer of soldiers. For his efforts, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

In this capacity, he provided in-depth clinical expertise for attending physicians at various hospital systems nationwide with feedback regarding level of care, length of stay, regulatory requirements, utilization of resources, clinical management, and clinical documentation.
