Alan Courtemanche

Board Certified Solar Power Electrical Inspector

Nationally certified in two practice domains, Alan Courtemanche is the senior quality assurance inspector of Standard Solar in Rockville, Maryland. Alan’s responsibilities include code compliance, establishing quality expectations and procedures, and working with design engineers, to ensure constructability, and ensure code compliance. His work takes him to more than 100 solar projects, from rooftops, to canopies, to ground mount and trackers, across America. He draws on a wide range of competencies gained over 40 years in the industry.

Prior to joining Standard Solar, Mr. Courtemanche led a team of electricians in kitchen renovations for Moss Construction in Fairfax, Virginia. He came to Moss from Afghanistan, where he contracted with the military to maintain safety standards and code compliance, at American bases. Before that, Mr. Courtemanche was the lead electrician for Raging Wire, a provider of electrical services to data centers in the Loudoun, Virginia area. He focused on generators, battery storage, and lighting systems.

For over a decade, Mr. Courtemanche was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 26 in Washington, DC. He held a variety of positions during this time, including doing contract work for Dynalectric, the largest company of its kind in the nation. Mr. Courtemanche had previously worked in the oil and construction industries in New Orleans and Dallas.

In his free time, Mr. Courtemanche is an avid practitioner of taekwondo, holding a seventh-degree black belt, winning regional and national titles, and serving as an instructor and referee.
