An international leader in the field of healthcare analytics, Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei focuses primarily on the use of data techniques in healthcare settings to help improve patient outcomes and quality of care. Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei teaches information systems and analytics courses at the Ansari College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno, in addition to conducting research in areas such as disease modeling, disease prediction and occupational safety.
Dr. Talaei-Khoei’s current research projects include the National Science Foundation-funded initiative Fighting Wildfires under Climate Change, Forecast of COVID-19 through the Measurement of Wastewater Network, funded by City of Sparks as well as Capacity Building in Artificially Intelligent Mining Systems (AIMS), funded by the CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. His research efforts also include the use of social media as a tool for student engagement. Using the lens of revised community of inquiries (RCOI), Dr. Talaei-Khoei examines strategies such as flipped classes and peer-learning practices to observe how students engage both in and out of the classroom.
