Toyota Motor Europe offers a combination of various B2C and B2B IT solutions to the European markets for both the Toyota and Lexus brand which are then configured and used by said markets to best fulfil the needs of their customers. Most relevant are the main website and the mobile app. 


For this project our scope was mainly focused on bringing new value to the Customer Portal part of the website but also included various integration- and other enabler work for other parts of the website or the mobile app. 


Environment

  • Complex business environment where requirements of end-customers(+millions), markets (+40), TME, and business initiatives need to be translated into a well defined, prioritised backlog that can efficiently be delivered and maintained by the Delivery teams.
  • Complex political environment  where different Toyota organisations, business units and contractors need to work together in a seamless way.
  • Complex application environment where various systems need to be aligned and integrated.
  • Complex governance environment where we have 7 Scrum Teams that bring new value to applications but also maintain business value in Production support.

My Activities
My main responsibility was focused on improving delivery by defining and evolving clear ways of working within the agile mindset. To achieve this I worked closely with people involved in various aspects of delivery, shifting focus based on the needs of the project:
  • Product Owners: Adoption of Story Mapping, 3 Amigos, Story splitting, different scales of estimations, agile delivery projections, zero bug policy, etc.
  • Program management: Adoption of PI Panning, Vision and Goal alignment, OKRs, high-level Kanban practices to optimise flow, dependency management, etc. 
  • Developers: Adoption of full-stack mindset, co-ownership, Unit Testing, linting, Pair Programming, CI/CD, Lean Architecture, etc.
  • Quality Assurance: Adoption of Behaviour-driven development, Test Automation (both functional & technical), Testing Strategy practices, etc.
  • Support: Adoption of Kanban practices to optimise flow, maintaining focus, communication guidelines, clear resolution process, etc.

My Skills

In order to achieve results in my activities I had to evolve different skills:

Total - Contractor Portal

Total Contractor Portal is the new web portal for contractors that want to work for Total Antwerp. It is the main entry point for new contractors to present their company, offer their services to Total Antwerp, and request for an approval to make sure their employees are allowed to enter the different sites of Total.
As a management tool, it helps external contractors and Total employees in their daily administration. Documents, employee details and site entrance requests are handled and stored in one central place and the tool makes the follow-up of contractors and people access more transparent.
Contractors can register their company as a candidate for collaboration with Total, manage their documents requested by Total, add and manage employees, add and manage sub-contractors and keep track of their own approval state.
Total co-workers can manage contractor requests in a structured way, keep track of documents needed to get approved as a contractor for Total Antwerp and handle the complete approval flow of companies and employee access to the different sites of Total Antwerp.

It is the main entry point for new contractors to present their company, offer their services to Total Antwerp, and request for an approval to make sure their employees are allowed to enter the different sites of Total.
As a management tool, it helps external contractors and Total employees in their daily administration. Documents, employee details and site entrance requests are handled and stored in one central place and the tool makes the follow-up of contractors and people access more transparent.
Contractors can register their company as a candidate for collaboration with Total, manage their documents requested by Total, add and manage employees, add and manage sub-contractors and keep track of their own approval state.
Total co-workers can manage contractor requests in a structured way, keep track of documents needed to get approved as a contractor for Total Antwerp and handle the complete approval flow of companies and employee access to the different sites of Total Antwerp.

I developed a responsive, mobile-first web application to fill in time-sheets. The goal was to make it easier and faster for employees of the company to fill in their time-sheets by providing a lightweight, portable alternative application that lives next to the more advanced existing application. Using the same back-end.
